100% vote count of the election protocols from Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission (CEC) revealed that GERB-UDF came first in 27 October snap election for the national parliament (7th election in the last 3 years) with 26.39% (24.71% in the previous election). The coalition We Continue The Change-Democratic Bulgaria came second with 14.20% (14.33% previously). Third is Eurosceptic party Revival with 13.36% (13.78% previously), followed by Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning with 11.55%, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) with 7.57% (7.06% previously), the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms with 7.48%, There Is Such a People (TISP) with 6.78% (5.96% previously) and Mech with 4.60% (2.98% previously). Voter runout is estimated at 38.94% (2 570 639 votes), slightly higher than on the previous snap election held on 2 October (34.41% turnout; 2 268 849 votes).
Velichie, which was still above the 4% barrier at 99.7% vote count remained with 3.999% (4.65% previously) and will not enter the parliament. Note that Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning and the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms were formed as a result of the split of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, which won 17.06% in the previous election while Mech is a recently formed party entering the parliament for a first time. Even with 8 parties, forming a government remains a more challenging task than the previous parliaments.
