The implementation of the project by US company AES for the construction of two new units at Maritsa East 1 will increase production at the Maritsa East mining complex by 1/3, pushing down the price of electricity generated by the thermal power plants that are part of the complex, said Wednesday AES's PR Agency. According to AES the project does not entail and never did entail state guarantees. The project will become the biggest foreign investment in Southeast Europe and will boost foreign investor confidence, the company said.
