The new Bulgarian government has considerably improved its reputation in the West but still faces tough times in attracting substantial foreign investments that are vital to ensure European Union entry, “ Reuters said quoting analysts. According to the analysts, the Cabinet which took office in July, 2001 and in which western-educated reformers are in charge of the economy has won the respect for its efforts to speed up reforms, sell remaining state assets transparently, stimulate growth and root out corruption. Still analysts predict that the limitations of the currency board as well as the low buyer interest in the best state assets mean that a sharp increase in investments in 2002 cannot be expected.
