Bank deposits outpace credits _x000d_

The deposit portfolio of Bulgaria's banking system reached 15.5 bln levs by the half-year mark with the gross value of the credit portfolio stood at 11.2 bln levs, shows data of the central bank released on July 27. Deposits and loans rose by 635 mln and 280 mln levs in June. Retail credits were reported at 2.8 bln levs at end-June, mortgage loan added 50.4 mln to 592 mln levs while consumer credits increased by 121.3 mln to 2.24 bln levs. The banks' loan-book is 54.6% denominated in the local currency versus 37.4% in euro while the combined assets crossed the 20 bln levs mark for the first time.
