The State gas company Bulgargas required from Gazprom contract changes regarding the Russian nature gas supplies. According to the contract the gas supplies for this year must be 5.7 billion cu.m. with real consumption of about 3 billion cu.m. The basic price for 1,000 cu.m gas is USD 82.5 and a transit tax is added of USD 4.9 value in Romania as well as 20% VAT and some other expenses for the supply. Bulgargas is selling the gas at the price of BGN 233 per 1,000 cu.m. The high prices of the fuel in Bulgaria caused a production reduce in the fertilizers factories and the State had to subsidise the central heating companies for paying their bills to the gas monopolist.
