Bulgarian Export Insurance Agency to Cover Bank Loans for Exporters.

25.02.2000

Before the end of this year, the Bulgarian Export Insurance Agency (BEIA) will start to cover bank loans contracted by companies which manufacture goods for export. Each company, which has concluded a contract for the export of its output, will thus be able to obtain a bank loan for the purchase of inputs on softer terms. The BEIA last year issued just three insurance policies to Bulgarian exporters and another four in January and February 2000. The Agency has a capital of BGN 10 million and a guarantee fund of BGN 30 million for coverage of losses incurred by short-term non-commercial risks, such as war, civil disturbance and embargo. If an insured event occurs, the Agency covers up to 85% of the export contract sums
