EBRD to Provide Credit for Autumn Sowing.

05.05.2000

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide a credit line for USD 50 million to finance the autumn sowing operations. The borrowers will be required to pledge grain from the stocks held in licensed warehouses, the chief of the Agriculture Fund, Roumen Yonchev, said Thursday at Agribusiness Forum 2000 that opened in Sofia. The loan will be managed by Bulgarian commercial banks, one of which will be Expressbank. This year the Agriculture Fund will start subsidizing the expenses of farmers who keep grain in licensed warehouses, said Yonchev. He hopes that before the end of September the Fund will get a license for agency to distribute the money under the SAPARD program of the European Union. Money under the program will hopefully be made available to end-users before the end of this year
