First Stage of Haskovo-Kavala Optic Network Completed.

The first stage of an optic fibre link between the Bulgarian town of Haskovo and the Greek town of Kavala has been finalised, Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC) announced Monday. The project is financed under the European Union PHARE program for trans-border co-operation and is worth EUR 1,697,159. The whole project will be completed by the end June 2001. The fibre optic link will be 120 kilometres long and will allow the simultaneous use of some 7,500 channel for phone lines, transfer of data, Internet and other up to date telecommunications and information services.
