Bulgaria will have no problems servicing its foreign debt this year. Until the end of 2001, some USD 500 million are falling due, but there is enough money for these payments, central bank Governor Svetoslav Gavriiski said Wednesday. Next year Bulgaria is expected to pay a little over USD 1,200 million on its foreign debt. Now the country's external debt is less than 80% of GDP, and this ratio will be falling, the Governor assumes. The amount of debt will be decreasing in coming years, Gavriiski added. He believes that Bulgaria's official foreign-exchange reserves will continue to increase.
