Following the end of Greek presidency of the EU on June 30, Bulgaria may apply for an earlier EU accession date, Foreign Minister Solomon Passy said. Any protraction of negotiations will result in worse accession terms, he pointed out. He expects the Greek presidency to be particularly favourable for Bulgaria. An agreement has been reached with the Greek side on the opening of the Gotse Delchev-Drama border checkpoint by 2004, Passy told reporters. He expects two other new border crossings to be opened till 2005.
