Japanese Tourists to Flock to Northern Bulgaria_x000d_

Japanese tourists are expected to flock to the northern Bulgarian town of Shumen in springtime, Yokio Sakuma, President of Japanese State Agency for International Cooperation stated to a local TV channel on Tuesday. Yokio Sakuma is currently working with Bulgaria's Economy Ministry, researching the country's historical and sightseeing attractive sites. The town of Shumen, some 400 km north-east of capital Sofia, is planned to be included in the tourist route "Ten Days Bulgaria", along with the towns of Plovdiv, Kazanlak, Veliko Turnovo and Pleven. In the cradle of the First Bulgarian Kingdom, in the region of Shumen, Japanese tourists will be retold those remote times of Bulgarian history. Visits to the local archeological museum, the Golden Church in ancient capital of Veliki Preslav and the ruins of another Bulgarian capital Pliska are listed as options for sightseeing, as well as a trip to the historical site of Madara, dated back to first years of Bulgarian state's recorded history. Organized trips of Japanese tourists to Bulgaria are envisaged for the whole period between April and October, a local municipal official said. The final route will be ready and presented during the upcoming tourist expo, due to take place in end February in capital Sofia.
