There is a real threat of fodder grain deficit, if the maize crops are low and the export is in accordance to the quotas of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests /MAF/, Prof. Ivan Tsvetanov, Chairman of the Union of Combined Fodder Producers /CUCFP/, stated at a press conference. The MAF envisages fodder export of up to 1 million tons, which will result in a grain crisis, similar to the one in 1997 according to Tsvetanov. The export of fodder should not be more than 500 tons annually, from which 360 tons of fodder wheat and 140 tons of barley, he added. The yield of maize expected by the MAF is some 110,000 tons, but according to CUCFP it will not reach above 90,000 tons.
