Russia Raises Duties for Bulgarian Medicines.

The Russian government will impose new customs duties on particular Bulgarian commodities from January 1, 2001, officials from the Ministry of Economy reported yesterday. The import tax for medicines is doubled - from 5% to 10%. The new duty rates will be implemented for a nine-months period, envisages the ordinance of the Russian government, dated November 27, 2000. The taxes for the Bulgarian wines, cosmetics and sugar products were, however, reduced. Tax concessions are also introduced for export of cables, cash registers, clothes and shoes. The import duties for cigarettes, alcohol, juices, accumulators and electric cars are unchanged
