Russia will negotiate for a stake of 30 to 40% in Bulgaria's Belene nuclear power plant and a fixed price of €6.4bn for the entire project, according to the head of Russia's nuclear monopoly Rosatom, Segei Kiriyenko. According to Kiriyenko, the price of the future power plant on the Danube river has increased to €6.7bn as of end-2010, including the inflation index. In 2008, Bulgaria's previous government hired Rosatom's subsidiary Atomstroyexport to build the 2 000-megawatt nuclear power plant for €4bn.
Kiriyenko said that he expects the final figures for the price of Belene to be set during his visit to Bulgaria on 30 November.
