Swiss company Holderbank, which holds 76% of the assets of Beloizvorski Ziment, will invest BGN 1,200,000 in an environmental project. Some 400,000 tons of asbestos and cement waste, accumulated between 1964 and 1985, are planned to be conservated. The project envisages re-cultivation of 15 ha of land. The final report about the evaluation of the influence on environment was already fully approved at a public discussion. During the liquidation of old contamination the terrain will be packed with construction waste from demolished old buildings and non-operating workshops in the plant.
