A programme for the development of telecommunications till 2005 attaches priority importance to the liberalisation of the communications market, offering a wider range of business services, better public access to them and their alignment to EU standards. The programme was presented Wednesday by Transport and Telecommunications Minister Antoni Slavinski and his team. Other top priority aims are to create a statutory basis meeting EU standards and to ease licensing requirements, said Slavinski. The Ministry expects that by 2003 the country will have a fully liberalised market, a new Telecommunications Act, a third GSM operator, Internet schools and a competitive telecommunications market environment.
