Trucks seen as main driver of '06 new vehicle sales in Bulgaria._x000d_

Trucks are shaping up as the buzz segment of Bulgaria's market for new vehicles in 2006, according to data of the Union for Importers of Automobiles in Bulgaria (UIAB). Truck dealers sold 81 units in January, posting a hefty 131% year-on-year increase, said UIAB. Bulgarian truck sales surged by 53% to 1,241 units in 2005. The four local dealers of Italian struck maker Iveco dominated 79.1% of January sales. A total of 2,602 new trucks, motorcycles, buses and automobiles were sold in January, up 33.7% year-on-year. January automobile sales were reported by the UIAB at 2,521 units versus 1,904 a year earlier. Peugeot dealer Sofia France Auto had a big lead on the competition in January, selling 325 units for a market share of 12.89%. Toyota dealer TM Auto was runner-up with 238 sales and a market share of 9.44%.
