Due to the lack of financing, 15 out of a total of 60 commercial property projects worked out in the country have been put on hold, data of the consulting company MBL showed. As of the end of 2008, the total commercial area in the country was 200k sq. m., or 27 sq. m. per 1000 people, which is below the average levels in Western Europe. In case of completion of all the planned projects in the next 5 years, the total commercial area would reach 2.2m sq. m. and Bulgaria would become one of the leading countries in Europe when it comes to commercial area per capita.
