Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) ended first quarter with a deficit of BGN 24 million, reads the report of the World Bank mission - supervisor of the venture's recovery. The improvements in the financial results of the BDZ, planned by the experts, were not achieved, due to losses because of the exchange rate, increased energy consumption, lower growth rate of the freights' and passengers' transports. Presently, BDZ is carrying out a plan of special measures aiming to reduce the envisaged deficit from BGN 128 million down to BGN 37 million.
