Bulgarian average household income rose by 23.9% YoY in December 2007, slowing down from 25.9% YoY the previous month, National Statistics Institute (NSI) said on Friday. The average household income stood at BGN 844.75 in December 2007, up form BGN 681.12 in December 2006. At the same time, expenditures sped up by 21.6% YoY to an average BGN 769.26. Food remains the highest expenditure of Bulgarian households, accounting for 39.1% of all spending, up from 38.3% the previous month. The second-largest expenditure is utility fees, which amount to 11.8% of all spending, down from 14.2% the previous month. Individual income in Bulgaria stood at BGN 338.53 in December, while expenditures totalled BGN 308.28.
