Negotiations on the sale of 51% of the capital of the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC) are expected to be finalised and the agreement to be signed before the end of July, Henk Vierenga, Director of the KPN Dutch telecommunications company for Bulgaria, said in an interview. Vierenga and Vasilis Fetsis, Head of the International Strategies and Investments Department of the OTE Greek telecommunications company, opened a visit to Sofia on Monday. Tuesday they had talks with Bulgarian Minister of Transport and Communications Antoni Slavinski and with the working group on the BTC privatization. Signing is expected before the end of July and the full implementation of the transaction in September, said Vierenga. In his view it may turn down that there is no need for the OTE-KPN consortium to apply for a permission for signing the deal before the European Commission. "In case we have to apply for such permission it will be done anyway after the signing of the agreement," Fetsis specified. According to Vierenga, the existence of an USD 120 million escrow account would ensure that the legislative amendments, needed for the finalisation of the deal, are in place. If they are already in place, there is no need of an escrow account, he added
