Bulgaria's budget surplus stood at BGN 1.990bn at end August, the finance ministry has announced. For the year ago period it was BGN 1.318bn. The fiscal reserve amounted to BGN 5.924bn at end-August ‘06. Consolidated revenue totalled BGN 12.984bn, up by 10.4% YoY. Spending increased by 5.3% to BGN 10.994bn. The total revenue to the republican budget for Jan-Aug ‘06 stood at BGN 8.870bn, up 14% YoY. The biggest rise was registered in indirect taxes (19.2%). Direct tax revenue surged by 14.7%.
