Despite the persistent shrinking of land under vineyards in the last 20 years, Bulgaria remains the 14th biggest vineyard of the world and 9th biggest wine exporter, according to figures of the Institute of Vine-Growing and Wine here. There has been overproduction of wine in the world in the recent years and competition is fierce, which makes a real achievement the fact that Bulgaria is in the world's Top Ten of wine exporters, experts claim. According to them, now is the time for Bulgaria to bring back to life the local wine grape varieties and advertise them on the world market with their specific aroma.
