Moscow is now of the opinion that the Bourgas-Alexandrupoulis project should be implemented, energy minister Rumen Ovcharov told the parliamentary energy policy committee on Wednesday. That intention was confirmed at a meeting in Russia with oil company Sibneft which will guarantee a portion of the oil that will be piped to the Greek port of Alexandrupoulis.
Sofia will insist that only local companies are hired to build the section of the Bourgas-Alexandrupoulis pipeline that will traverse Bulgarian territory. Ovcharov has also requested that Bulgarian companies participate in the transportation of oil from Russian ports to Bourgas, on the Black Sea, and that it is granted ownership of the so called universal terminal. The Russian side did not object to any of these demands, said Ovcharov.
