Following the BGN 51.9m deficit under CFP as of August, the Ministry of Finance revealed the preliminary data for September 2023, where the CFP balance is expected to be negative at BGN 780m. The expansion of the deficit is due to the planned significant payments, including over BGN 300m interest on the state debt. Jan-Sep 2023 revenues are to total BGN 47.6bn, while expenditures (including contribution to the EU budget) to reach BGN 48.4bn. The Ministry also reaffirmed that the budget balance is expected to reach the planned deficit of BGN 4.5bn, or 2.5% of GDP for the year.
