Bulgaria ranks second in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of mobile penetration, said local wireless telecom carrier Mobiltel after last week's UMTS forum held in Sofia. Bulgaria's 91% rate trails only the 116% mobile penetration recorded in the Czech Republic. Hungary is third with 89%, followed by Slovakia (86%), Poland (85%), Romania (72%), Serbia (59%) and Moldova (35%). 3G subscribers rose 44% in the last quarter and has risen over six times so far in 2006, it was announced at the forum.
