The trade turnover between Bulgaria and Shanghai reached about USD 94.3m in 2000. Chinese export totals USD 80.83m and Bulgarian – USD 13.47m. Li Lyandjun, Chinese trade representative to Sofia, announced at a meeting of Bulgarian companies and Chinese business delegation from the City of Shanghai. Chinese exports predominate in the bilateral trade turnover in the first half of the year – USD 41.4m compared to USD 5.4m on the side of Bulgarian exports. The aim of the visit by the Shanghai business delegation is establishing and promoting trade contacts between Bulgaria and Shanghai as well as studying opportunities for setting up joint ventures and stepping on third markets.
