Chimco discontinues its production of ammonia and urea due to the high prices of natural gas, said officials of the company which makes fertilizers. The company's short-term prospects are still unclear as the negotiations on a common position and actions with Messer Chimco Gas of Austria, Agropolychim and Neochim are going on. Company estimates show that at the new price of natural gas - BGN 312 per 1,000 cubic metres after VAT, and a price of USD 100-105 per tonne for the urea made, the enterprise loses over USD 300,000 a month. "The 16.42% hike in natural gas price as from November 1 brought Chimco to its knees," Executive Director Valentin Dimitrov said, adding they have been waiting for the position of the Chimco majority shareholder, the US company IBE Trans of New York
