Bulgaria's Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has approved the acquisition of 99.994% of United Milk Company (UMC) by Greece's Vivartia. Doverie - United Holding and Global Finance, shareholders in UMC, announced in April that they would sell their shares to the Greek company. Vivartia, formerly known as Delta Holding, is the second largest food and beverage maker in Greece. The value of the deal stands at EUR 18.7m, Valeri Petrov, executive director of Global Finance, said.
OMK is a leading dairy products maker in Bulgaria. It owns the Vereia, Fibella and Vitalact brands and has been certified to export to the EU. Vivartia is a strategic investor expected to make considerable investments in expanding the product range and improving the quality of UMC's products, Petrov added.
