The European Investment Bank (EIB) is considering lending €50m to Bulgaria's capital Sofia for urban roads rehabilitation and expansion. The funds will be earmarked for transport network investments, which will aim to improve traffic flow and safety on key road sections of main traffic arteries. Proceeds from the loan will also aim to increase the efficiency of Sofia’s public transport and to reduce pollution and traffic-related accidents. The total cost of the repairs is estimated at €100m.
