The electricity prices might decrease by 5% as the government officials have previously suggested according to the chairman of the energy regulator SEWRC Angela Toneva. However, before electricity price decrease, changes in the energy act and in the renewable energy act will need to be approved. So, the next pricing period is not likely to start from 1 July. The envisioned measures that will lead to price decrease are reduction of the cold reserve, reduction of the share of electricity from cogeneration facilities in the mix, cost cutting measures in all energy companies as well as using the proceeds from the sale of greenhouse emissions for balancing the green energy price.
