Energy Agency Head Will Discuss N-plant Modernisation in Moscow.

Bulgaria's energy chief leaves for Moscow on Thursday to discuss safety upgrading of the Soviet-designed nuclear power plant at Kozloduy and nuclear fuel transportation, Bulgarian State Energy Agency said. Sofia has bowed to EU pressure and agreed to close reactors one and two earlier than planned and promised to set a timetable for the earlier decommissioning of reactors three and four. But Kozloduy managers have made clear they would prefer to reconstruct reactors three and four so they could be run to the end of their projected life. For the modernisation of the two 1,000 MW reactors, some USD 80 million are expected from a Russian lending institution as Russia's Atomenergoexport is part of an international consortium involved in the project worth USD 380 million
