EU's PHARE program has funded with EUR 4.726 mln a total of 19 cultural tourism projects implemented between Nov '03 and May '05. The grants, ranging from EUR 168,000 to 350,000, were spend mainly on infrastructure, the development and marketing of new tourist products and sightseeing routes and the restoration of cultural heritage sites. As a result, the number of tourists taking cultural tours is expected to increase by 10%, said Albena Ignatova from the economy ministry.
