Five Agricultural Sectors State–Subsidized Under Strategy. The Agriculture State Fund will be obliged to grant subsidies directly to five sectors of agriculture production, under the farming support strategy for 2003-2006 that will be moved to Parliament after the summer recess, Dnevnik Daily reported. The sectors slated for government handouts are grain, milk, livestock and potato production and the planting of perennial crops. Domestic production of red peppers can also be put on the list in case of financial surplus. The amount of the subsidies for grain production will be calculated on the basis of the area of arable land with the respective cereal or other grain crop. Only high quality grain will be eligible for subsidies. The strategy will entitle producers of sheep and goat milk to state subsidies as well from 2003 onwards. So far producers of cow and buffalo milk only have been granted subsidies. <
