Petrol AD, Bulgaria's biggest fuel retailer, is willing to brand and take over the management of exiting petrol stations in a bid to streamline operating costs, the company said, withholding information on whether the outlets will be run under franchise or dealership arrangements. The new initiative is part of the fuel retailer's vision for business partnerships under the Petrol brand which will also involve contracting out the management of Petrol's own outlets. Petrol is also willing to lend its brand to partners that would build outlets on their own terrains, making use of Petrol financing and expertise. The company said it does not intend to purchase existing filling stations. The initial stage of the program was launched in March 2004 when Petrol offered 35 branded outlets to be managed under dealership agreements. The agreements for the filling stations will be signed after the picked dealers take a training course in Petrol corporate standards. Petrol runs a nation-wide network of 443 filling stations, including 132 outlets that sell propane-butane.
