06.07.2000

BGN 200 million of the additional budget revenue for 2000 will go for infrastructure projects and another BGN 400 million will be used to implement programmes proposed by the social partners for the creation of new jobs, Social Minister Ivan Neikov said. The funds made available in this way will be used for a possible increase of salaries in the state-subsidised sector as of October 1, for an increase in pensions and for financing of employment programmes. The additional budget revenue will come from increased collectability of taxes and privatization proceeds, Neikov said. 45 programmes for the creation of jobs in various regions of the country have been submitted to Neikov by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria. The confederation expect the programmes to receive funding no later than August or September
