Austria's Welde, the owner of Lesoplast, the wood mill of Troyan, has invested nearly BGN 4.5 million in the last two years. The Austrian company bought a majority interest in late 1999. The profit is expected to double this year and investment is projected at BGN 8-9 million. The fibreboard and plywood maker will be gradually retooled to increase efficiency in line with EU standards. In 2000 Lesoplast posted a profit of BGN 2,013,000, twice as much as the previous year, due to an increase in output. About 90% of it is exported to the EU.
