As of Sept’08 gross written premiums from life insurance in Bulgaria reached BGN 188m (up 25% YoY) while paid claims amounted to BGN 51m (up 36% YoY). Gross reserves increased by 34% YoY to BGN 441m and total assets were BGN 896m (up 25% YoY). The net technical account totalled BGN 4m compared to BGN 10m for the year-ago period.
