The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is to sell in July its 10% stake in the United Bulgarian Bank (UBB) for USD 23 M. The share will be bought by the National Bank of Greece, a majority owner of the second-biggest Bulgarian institution. The price of the share in the upcoming deal is set at USD 3, 031, the same as in the summer of 2000, when the Greek bank acquired 89,9% of UBB. Five years ago the bank was privatized for USD 3 M. The deal between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the National Bank of Greece has been negotiated two years ago, now it is only confirmed.
