River Shipping Corporation Receives Loan from the State.

06.07.2000

The ministries of transport and finance has agreed in principle to the provision of financial aid to the Bulgarian River Shipping Corporation in the form of a low-interest or interest-free loan, said the Chairman of the Corporation's Board of Directors Yavor Dimitrov. The amount required to this end will be calculated shortly. The Corporation has requested BGN 3 million, which will be spent on seven months' back pay to the staff as well as on preparation of the vessels for operation when the western reaches of the River Danube reopen for navigation in late autumn. Reports from Novi Sad say that the second new bridge is to be inaugurated there in time for Yugoslavia's national day in November. Hopefully, the pontoon crossing will be removed after that and shipping will be facilitated
