Germany's Siemens will deliver by end-March the first 2 of 25 Desiro trains contracted for supply by Bulgarian railway carrier BDZ. The remainder of the order will be fulfilled by the year's end. Siemens was picked to supply the trains on Dec 7, '04 under a EUR 67 mln deal, 80%-financed by KfW and Nordbank. BDZ will buy further 15 three-car trains and up to 10 four-car trains from Siemens for delivery in late 2006. The Bulgarian railway carrier is expected to save up to BGN 10 mln in annual fuel costs after the commissioning of the Siemens fleet.
