Transformation of Bulgaria's air traffic services into safe, environment friendly and efficient services sector is among the top priorities of the government, according to recently released Strategy 2015 by the transport ministry. Air traffic forms up a 1.1% stake of the country's gross domestic product, compared to 1.0% in the European Union. The world's air transportation sector generates a total revenue of EUR 850 billion. Air Traffic Service Authority should evolve into a regional centre for management of the air traffic. A prospective membership in European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the EU's Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) is also targeted. Bulgaria should also start providing regular air flights to the USA, according to the development strategy 2015.
