The US investments in Bulgaria that total USD 350 M, will be increased and this would make a considerable difference to the agricultural sector in the country, US Ambassador to Bulgaria James Pardew said at a Bulgarian-American conference in Sofia. Currently the United States occupy the sixth place among investors in Bulgaria but this position is temporal as the country has the ambition to lead the ranking. Exports of Bulgarian agricultural goods to the US total USD 45 M in 2002, which is up by 15 % as compared to 2001. Bulgaria exports mainly tobacco, cheese, wine, honey and fruit juices. The larger portion of US imports to Bulgaria is formed by pork, frozen fish and seeds. The Bulgarian-American business conference is organized on the occasion of an American trade and investing mission that is on a one-week trip to Bulgaria. The mission includes 18 US companies willing to boost business cooperation with Bulgarian firms.
